Yorkie travel feeding checklist
Feeding a tiny dog away from home is mostly about consistency: same food, same timing, enough water. Print this, tick it off before you leave, and keep a settled stomach on the road.
Pack (food & water)
- Pre-measured meals in labelled bags (one per meal — no eyeballing on the road)
- A day or two of spare food in case of delays
- Enough of the SAME food — don't switch brands while travelling
- Bottled or from-home water to avoid stomach upset from new water
- A collapsible or travel water bottle with a built-in tray
- A collapsible travel bowl for meals
Pack (treats & extras)
- Tiny training treats within the 10% daily budget
- A familiar lick mat or slow feeder for calm settling in a new place
- Paper towels and a small mat for tidy feeding
- Any medication or supplement in its original labelling
Routine on the road
- Feed at the usual times where you can — familiarity settles a nervous tummy
- Offer water often; tiny dogs dehydrate quickly in cars and warm weather
- Don't feed a large meal right before a long car ride
- Watch for skipped meals, loose stools, or low energy — and know the nearest vet
