Privacy

Plain English, no fine-print games. Here is what we collect, what we deliberately do not, and how to opt out.

The short version

We want to understand how the site is used so we can make it better, and that is the extent of it. We do not sell your personal data, we do not build advertising profiles about you, and we keep the sensitive things you type into our tools out of our analytics entirely.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to see aggregate, anonymous traffic patterns — which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from, and how the site performs. We enable IP anonymization so your full IP address is not stored by the analytics service. This tells us things like “the portion calculator is popular” without identifying you personally.

What we deliberately keep out of analytics

Our calculators and tools ask about your dog, and that information is yours. We do not send the following to analytics:

  • Any health-condition selections you make.
  • Your pet's exact details, such as precise weight or age.
  • Any free-form text you type into a calculator or form field.

Tool calculations happen in your browser to produce your result; we are not interested in logging your dog's data against your identity, and we have chosen not to.

Affiliate click events

When you click an affiliate link, we may note a rough, anonymous count so we can understand which links are useful — for example, that a link in a particular section or for a particular shop was clicked. We record only that kind of general context. It does not capture personal data about you.

Cookies

Analytics and some site functions may set cookies or similar storage in your browser. These are used for the measurement described above, not for cross-site advertising. You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some measurement may not function.

Every third party involved

This is the complete list of outside services that touch a request to this site. If a service is not on this list, it is not running here.

  • Vercel — our hosting provider. Serving any page necessarily involves Vercel receiving the request, including your IP address, as standard server logs.
  • Google Analytics 4 — aggregate traffic measurement, with IP anonymization enabled, as described above. If analytics is switched off, the script is not loaded at all and no analytics cookie is set.
  • Amazon — only when you choose to click a product link and leave this site. Amazon's own privacy policy governs what happens after that. We do not embed Amazon scripts, pixels, or images on our pages.
  • Impact.com — a single site-ownership verification tag in our page head. It is an inert line of markup: it loads no script, sets no cookie, tracks nothing, and sends no data about you anywhere. We currently run no Impact affiliate links or tracking of any kind.
  • Awin — an affiliate network. When you choose to click an approved retailer link, you are sent to Awin's tracking link and on to the retailer, which lets that retailer credit us for the visit. We do not load Awin's site-wide tracking tag, and no Awin cookie or script runs on our pages unless and until you click such a link and leave. We attach only a short, non-personal placement label to the link (for example, which section it was in) — never your name, your dog's details, or anything you typed into a tool.

We do not use advertising networks, retargeting pixels, session recording, heatmaps, A/B testing tools, chat widgets, social embeds, or consent-management trackers.

We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Where we rely on a service provider such as Google Analytics, we do so only to operate and improve the site.

How to opt out

You are in control. You can:

  • Enable your browser's “Do Not Track” (DNT) setting.
  • Block analytics or third-party cookies in your browser or with an extension.
  • Use Google's own analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Newsletter

If we offer a newsletter, it is strictly consent-based — you only receive it if you ask to, and you can unsubscribe at any time from any email. Our newsletter is brand new and may not be running yet; if it is not, there is nothing to sign up for.
