Carrot Crunch Sticks
Thin little carrot sticks, raw or lightly cooked and cut small, for a low-calorie crunchy treat.
Ingredients
- 1 smallCarrotWashed and scrubbed; no oil, salt, or seasoning.
Steps
- Wash and scrub the carrot, then peel it if you prefer.
- Cut the carrot into thin, short sticks sized for a tiny mouth.
- Serve them raw for a firm crunch, or steam them briefly in plain water until just softened for an easier chew, then cool completely.
- Offer one or two sticks under supervision, and refrigerate the rest.
Storage
Refrigerate cut sticks in an airtight container for up to 4 days. Raw sticks keep best; cooked sticks can also be frozen for up to 1 month.
Portion guidance
A couple of tiny sticks are a nice low-calorie crunch for a 4-7 lb Yorkie. They still count toward the ~10% daily treat budget. Cut them small and always supervise chewing, since a hard stick can be a choking risk for a tiny mouth.

The Yorkiefood Editorial Team
We research Yorkshire Terrier feeding from regulatory bodies, veterinary manuals, poison-control centres, and peer-reviewed nutrition literature, then explain it plainly. We are careful researchers, not veterinarians — our pages cite their sources so you can check the evidence yourself, and we always defer to your own vet for your dog.
